Reverse Engineered: Final

Project Reflection:

Overall, I really enjoyed this project and I've learned a lot throughout the course. On the other hand, I feel like I need to practice more and that became very apparent when surface modelling. I'm already trying to think of different ways I should have approached this as I'm not super satisfied with the end result of the wite-out dispenser.

The interior parts are accurate and I'm confident with them. However, I had to make a lot of adjustments to the shell of the object and the way that I created it was flawed. Because of this, it's a lot more angular and less round than I would've liked. Basically, for the top case I modelled a flat planar surface and trimmed out a shape for the divot and lofted. From there, I extruded the curve to create the sides and offset them.

The shell needed matching lips so that the two pieces fit together and interlock so that was a confusing process and I needed to make sure the offset was on different sides for the top and bottom.

Because of the flawed execution, I couldn't fillet the edges properly and get that nice round edge. Next time I will utilize curve networks more and see if that is more effective but for time's sake it will do.
